At the invitation of the Taiwan International Buddha’s Light Association (Chinese General Association), a group of 15 teachers and students from the Jinan Street Dance Association's "Shining Star Youth Troupe" visited Taiwan from December 13 to 17 for a cultural exchange. During their visit, they held three street dance performances and visited Nantou County’s Juntou High School, where they interacted with the Touqian High School Street Dance Club, Louis Music, and other local street dance organizations.
The troupe participated in the opening performances for the "2024 Chinese Buddha’s Light Youth Member Conference" and the "2024 14th Chinese Literature Venerable Master Hsing Yun Award Ceremony." Their performance, including the program Confucius, Please Teach Us, blended tradition and modernity, offering a refreshing experience that received widespread acclaim from the audience. Additionally, the troupe collaborated with Taiwanese youth street dance groups in a "flash mob" street dance performance at a plaza near Taipei's Songshan Railway Station, energizing the participants and creating a harmonious and joyful atmosphere.
Gao Xin, the team leader and President of the Jinan Street Dance Association, explained that the program Confucius, Please Teach Us aims to promote excellent traditional Chinese culture by interpreting Confucian classics through a street dance format loved by youth on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. This innovative approach resonated emotionally with audiences from both regions. Gao emphasized that street dance serves as a common language for youth, enabling them to form friendships and share sentiments through dance. The exchanges fostered strong bonds and deepened mutual understanding, furthering emotional connection between the two sides.
